Mongolia Ger and Tourist Camp
What is a Ger?
A Ger is a traditional round-shaped dwelling native to Mongolia, used for centuries by nomads engaged in animal husbandry. It is portable, easy to set up and take down, and considered one of the most eco-friendly forms of housing. The structure includes felt coverings, wooden columns, a circular skylight at the top, and a frame made of wooden poles and lattice bound by animal hides and ropes. The materials are primarily natural, such as sheep or camel wool, horsehair, yak tails, and wood.
What is a Tourist Ger Camp?
A Tourist Camp is a type of accommodation where guests stay in gers instead of traditional hotel rooms, typically situated in scenic areas for the best views. These camps often include ger-style restaurants and shared facilities like showers and saunas. They serve both traditional Mongolian cuisine and European dishes. Visitors can usually enjoy wildlife viewing, horse or camel riding, hiking, or simply relaxing. Some camps also feature cultural experiences such as local folk music performances.

Bedding
Each ger offers a simple yet elegant stay. Typically arranged for two guests, they provide an authentic Mongolian cultural experience in a comfortable setting amidst remote nature. Single occupancy can also be arranged upon request. Standard furnishings inside a ger usually include four wooden drawers, one table, four chairs, a vacuum bottle, four glasses, and four shippers. Bed configurations can be adjusted if requested in advance.
Restaurant & Dining Hall
Tourist camps typically feature restaurants with a European-style setup, serving a mix of European, Asian, and traditional Mongolian cuisine, along with various teas. Meals are prepared by professional, experienced chefs.
Sanitary Facilities
Most camps offer modern sanitation that meets international tourism standards. These facilities usually include hot and cold showers, saunas, laundry (in some camps), and separate, well-built toilet buildings. Showers and toilets are located outside the gers but within walking distance. These amenities are designed to keep guests clean and comfortable during their stay in the wilderness. It’s recommended to bring a flashlight, as it can be very helpful at night.
